The Fairest Trip Report Of All: 11/8

It’s trip report time again! Read all posts in this trip report here. After our late night, I would’ve slept in a bit this morning, but I had a new 7am mission: an Advanced Dining Reservation at Le Cellier for my January WDW Marathon trip. I wasn’t able to secure the exact date and time I wanted, but I did end up with something that works. Success! I rewarded myself with an extra 45 minutes of shuteye. But then it was up and off to the showers, because Walt Disney World awaited! Originally I had made our park pass...

Ron Howard Goes To The Haunted Mansion

Happy Halloween week, kids! I can think of no better way to celebrate than by going to the Haunted Mansion. If you’re in the parks right now, you’re obligated. If you’re not? Never fear; I have you covered! Sure, we could watch a few on-ride videos, or even dig up some archival material. But since we’re all groovy dudes, I’d like to bring to your attention some vinyl records. Both were produced officially by Disney in the ’60s to promote the upcoming/new Haunted Mansion attraction, and they’re absolute musts for any Haunted Mansion fan (Me! Me!).  CHILLING, THRILLING SOUNDS...

In Which You Can Hear ALL The Disney Parks Music In Single Videos

My love of Walt Disney World background music loops is well documented. There’s just something so soothing about listening to the sounds of the Disney parks while doing work or chores; it floats the mind away to a better, more carefree place. I have lots of favorites, but I’m also always on the hunt for new treasures. I was poking around YouTube for just this reason when I came upon a video from Epcat77 that claimed to be the ENTIRE master music loop for Disney’s Animal Kingdom – yes, the whole entire park. Eager to explore every possible musical nook...

The Fairest Trip Report Of All: May 6

It’s time for my favorite type of post: a trip report! I celebrated my second vaccine dose with a trip to WDW accompanied by Becky of Disney In Your Day. I will now exhaustively tell you all about it. You can read all the posts in this report here. Onward! I got up early for a quick run and shower before our Magic Kingdom morning. We didn’t plan to make rope drop anyway, so we spent a little time perfecting our outfit choices for the day because we both like looking thematically cute while park-going. People give you compliments and stuff! It’s...

The Fairest Trip Report Of All: May 3

It’s time for my favorite type of post: a trip report! I celebrated my second vaccine dose with a trip to WDW accompanied by Becky of Disney In Your Day. I will now exhaustively tell you all about it. You can read all the posts in this report here. Onward! Our first full vacation day! Nothing like rolling out of bed in Bay Lake Tower, throwing back the curtains, and performing your morning ablutions while admiring your theme park view. Likewise, nothing like waltzing out the door and walking straight to the Magic Kingdom! Can I live in the Contemporary? I’ll clean...

In Which Jenn Reviews Sights & Smells From The Haunted Mansion

I’ve never performed the lengthy soul-searching required to select my favorite Magic Kingdom attraction, but if I had to make a quick call based on gut feelings alone I would probably say the Haunted Mansion. Sure, it’s not the most thrilling experience in the park, but in terms of theme, aesthetics, and storytelling, I think you’d be hard pressed to top it. So it should come as no surprise that much like the hitchhiking ghosts, some Haunted Mansion items have followed me home! And since they’re – shh – third party items readily procured via the internet, I thought...

Babysitters on Board

In Which The Baby-Sitters Club Goes To Walt Disney World In 1988

Adulthood rite of passage: your parents move out of your childhood home, and they do a massive purge of their stuff. Some of that stuff is your stuff. They ask you if you want that stuff. You pick through the stuff, select a very small percentage of stuff you want to keep, and tell them to do whatever they want with the remainder of the stuff. Sell the stuff, recycle the stuff, toss the stuff. The key point is, you do not want the stuff. You have your own stuff. Too much stuff, really. You should probably purge some...

The Fairest Trip Report Of All: Skipper Canteen Review

And for the food review portion of my 2020 WDW Marathon trip. You can read all the posts in this report here. Onward! I have predominantly heard three things about the Skipper Canteen restaurant in Adventureland: it is an 1) underrated 2) delight that 3) gets watered down more and more with each passing year. Eager to check it out before it before it started serving “American cuisine,” I easily snagged us an early lunchtime ADR for Friday. Oh, sorry, there’s a fifth thing I always hear about Skipper Canteen: it is one of the only places you can get...

The Fairest Trip Report Of All: 1/10

And now for my favorite kind of post – the trip report! I’ll be covering my 2020 Marathon trip. You can read all the posts in this report here. Onward! As is my wont, I set an aggressive schedule for day 2 – there were Extra Magic Hours to be had at the Magic Kingdom and I intended to have them. I hopped out of bed to my 6am alarm, showered, dressed, roused Erika, and off we went to the park (although I must confess I was a bit miffed we had to take a bus to get there. Skyliners...

The Fairest Trip Report Of All: Be Our Guest Review

It’s trip report time! You can see all the posts in this report here. Remember when Be Our Guest was, like, THE dining reservation to have? I mean, I guess it still kinda is, but I never really got into the hype. Despite its general popularity, Beauty & The Beast was never a huge favorite of mine as a child, and aside from the grey stuff there was no huge attraction in the perfectly serviceable but expensive menu. I don’t know why I suddenly felt the urge to go there for breakfast, which generally gets middling reviews. The lure of doing something...
