Divide, Run & Conquer: Adding Two-A-Days To My Training Plan

I’m a lot of things, but I’m not more things. One of the many things I am not is a running coach. I do not run professionally in any capacity. But I’ve had a bit of success with this method, so I figured, why not share? Obviously if try them and suffer up to and including an accident we never talked, though, okay? You’ve most likely read about elite athletes performing two-a-days as part of their training plan. It’s exactly what it sounds like: two workouts in one day. What those workouts consists of varies from athlete to athlete,...

A New/Old Splash Mountain Souvenir

Splash Mountain has been in the (Disney) news this week, since more was revealed about the planned Princess & The Frog retheme. I’ve gone on record as being in favor and I stand by what I said… but I also stand by what I said, which I that I’ll miss Splash Mountain when it’s gone. I’ve posted about old Splash Mountain shirt before, when there was a run on Splash Mountain’s gift shop. You remember? Opportunistic types were buying up enormous bags of Splash souvenirs to be sold online in a nostalgic frenzy. I can’t abide enormous eBay markups,...

runDisney Race Registration Has NOT Been A Nightmare?!

Back in 2020, when runDisney was still operating as though races would continue in the coming year, the 2021 WDW Marathon (RIP) sold out in record time. How fast, you ask? My race buddy was thirty minutes behind registration opening and the marathon was already sold out. And that’s the full marathon, which historically has been a waltz. Yikes! Mind you, that was with alleged COVID-induced registration caps and such, and anyway the race ended up cancelled. But when runDisney relaunched the race season, I was scared. With pent up demand for an already popular race, how hard would...

23 Of My Thoughts While Watching: WDW Unwrapped

Hello and welcome back to my Thoughts While Watching series, where I watch old-to-ancient Disney media and react in real time. For the first few entries, I’ve stuck to historical videos, like the Opening Day Broadcast and Tenth Anniversary special. But for this post, I decided to dig up an odd little gem that is near and dear to my heart. My Walt Disney World fixation began in earnest in the summer of 2005. I had always been a theme park fan, but that year I stumbled upon the phenomenon of WDW trip reports and got hooked. I was absolutely obsessed,...

The $15 Question: Has Walt Disney World Become TOO Complicated?

I’ve been pondering this for some time now, but I think it may have finally happened: has a Walt Disney World vacation become too complicated for the average vacationer? Before you answer, consider: you’re reading a largely Disney parks-focused blog right now, and a pretty niche one at that. I suppose you could be here exclusively for my sparkling wit and winning personality, but it’s more likely you enjoy discussing Walt Disney World. Heck, you seek it out, you pursue it. Therefore, you are NOT the average Disney vacationer. WAIT, WHAT’S GOING ON AT WALT DISNEY WORLD? So you...

The Fairest Trip Report Of All: Disney Snack Roundup

The full trip report is over, but the details still need filling in. Read on for more May 2021 WDW fun! Some Disney snack locations don’t warrant their own posts – but come on, do we really want to leave food reviews on the table? Of course not! And with that in mind, we’re finishing up our May 2021 trip food coverage with what Douglas Adams would refer to as a Whole Sort of General Mish Mash. (I think I have used this joke before but I love it and it stays.) Let’s start with the sweet and spicy chicken waffle...

DuoLingo Says: Shut Up About Running

Ever since we moved to Puerto Rico we’ve been working on learning Spanish, and everyone knows that one of the first steps of one’s language journey is downloading the DuoLingo app. I like to do my daily session after my workout and before my shower, while I wait for the water to heat up. Or to ramp this post up another way, I came out to have a good shower and honestly I’m feeling so attacked right now: Okay, so if you don’t speak Spanish, basically what’s happening is that this guy Eddy has a date with a lady...

The Fairest Trip Report Of All: Star Wars Dining In Galaxy’s Edge

The full trip report is over, but the details still need filling in. Read on for more May 2021 WDW fun! Not that you’d know it by reading this blog, but there are actually other restaurants in Galaxy’s Edge aside from Oga’s Cantina. You might not patronize them under the glorious shadow of DJ Rex, but they are various levels of interesting all the same. Let’s make like Luke Skywalker and a tauntaun and get into it, shall we? GALAXY’S EDGE <3s MILK How about we start with the drinks, the myths, the legends: blue and green milk. Obviously we...

In Which Jenn Identifies A Gap In The runDisney Expo Market

The Wilmington Marathon isn’t, say, runDisney or Marine Corps Marathon big, with fancy sponsors and thousands of participants. But it’s gotten big enough to have its expo in a convention hall, which is where I found myself for bib pickup the day before the race. There was all the usual stuff – official race merch, running store and athletic store booths, local businesses – and one thing more: discounted old race gear. Not for the current race, of course, but the organization puts on multiple events per year and was selling some leftover stuff from races past for, I kid...

The Breakfast Sandwiches Of Walt Disney World

The full trip report is over, but the details still need filling in. Read on for more May 2021 WDW fun! Hi, my name is Jenn, and I LOVE breakfast food. Like, breakfast-food-was-my-wedding-menu LOVE breakfast food. I love pancakes, I love waffles, I love eggs, bacon, and sausage. Whipped cream, butter, syrup, YES. Asking me to choose a favorite would be akin to asking me to pick a favorite pet, but if I absolutely had to make a call, I would go with the glorious breakfast sandwich. It offers so many wonderful staples in one: eggs, cheese, usually a breakfast...
