In Which Jenn Is Sick As A Dog, Probably

Oh my God, guys. What a mess. No, no. That’s needlessly melodramatic. Everything’s fine. I’m fine. I’m just a) sick as a dog assuming a dog is just sick enough to be miserable but not sick enough to get out of anything and b) stressed because c) I’m in the final throes of moving and ACK GOTTA GET ALL MY STUFF OUT GOTTA CLEAN FOR INSPECTION HELP HELP HELP. So. Yeah. Hence “Giveaway Week” turning into “Giveaway Day.” But never fear! I still have that other giveaway in the chute and will chuck it at your faces next week....

The Fairest Giveaway Of All: Soapbox Soaps Shower Products

Whew! It’s been quite a weekend here at FRoA headquarters. My interns* and I have been snowed in since Friday. Today I am finally free of my cold wet confines, which is a cause for celebration, yes? I give you: giveaway week, so named because I have TWO giveaways for you. * Cats. They’re my cats. We’ll start with the one I teased way back when: Soapbox Soaps. I received their coconut conditioner in an Influenster Vox Box last month I fell completely in love with the product. I have tricky hair – it’s VERY long, but it’s fine,...

The Fairest Week In Review: 1/21

Just Jenn this week – Moon has been a busy bee. I have a HUGE backlog of links for the roundup, though, so I’m forging ahead despite the fact that I was on the Beltway for SEVEN HOURS last night. I know it was snowing, people, but GET IT TOGETHER. Hmm? What? My training? Oh. Well. The week after the marathon I pretty much took off. I’ve started running again, but given that my Achilles injury has being holding me back for a couple months I want to make sure I ease in rather than immediately start doing speed...

The Fairest Trip Report Of All: Reviewing Some Of The World’s Sushi

Last post of the mini trip report! I’m covering my quick weekend trip for the WDW Marathon. To read all the posts in this report, click here. And now for the most interesting part of any trip report: a food review. My boyfriend is not a sushi fan, so I don’t end up eating it very often in normal life. Throw me into a solo trip, however, and it’s all sushi all the time! (See exhibit A.) So for my WDW Marathon Weekend Mini-Trip, I had sushi for lunch both days. It was… it was kind of disappointing, actually. First...

The Fairest Trip Report Of All: 1/10

Mini trip report time! I’m covering my quick weekend trip for the WDW Marathon. To read all the posts in this report, click here. I arrived back at Pop just after noon, which gave me a little under an hour to do my shower thing and get out per the late check out rules. I ate a couple snacks, cleaned myself off, did some last minute packing, and headed out. Disney doesn’t require in-person check out unless you need to adjust your bill or something, but I still needed to swing by the front desk: my Magical Express ticket...

The Fairest Trip Report Of All: The WDW Marathon

Mini trip report time! I’m covering my quick weekend trip for the WDW Marathon. To read all the posts in this report, click here. Did I dream it? Did I dream that I dreamed it? In either case, I sat bolt upright in bed. Had I slept through my alarm and missed the WDW Marathon??? 2:48am. Whew! Also: damn. Never gonna get those 12 minutes back, not the way they could’ve been. Ah well. Better than the alternative, no question. At 3am, my phone alarm went off. I sat up and turned it off along with the other two...

The Fairest Trip Report Of All: 1/09

And now for the Briefest Trip Report Of All! I began my whirlwind marathon weekend with a 7am flight. The airport was uncharacteristically empty, and since I didn’t need to check any bags I waltzed through security and had a Jamba Juice smoothie in hand in short order. My flight took off early, but landed half an hour late due to a brand new experience for me: two go-arounds. Conditions in the Orlando morning were foggy and it wasn’t until attempt #3 that we managed to land. (I assume instrument landings are for special occasions only.) I wasn’t particularly...

In Which Jenn Knows Which Miles Are REALLY Magic

I have made a poor show of things – I haven’t written up anything about my marathon trip. I will. I promise I will. Soon! In the meantime, I just want to say this: Flying down, grabbing your bib, running the race, flying home? TOTALLY WORTH IT. They say every mile is magic. This is a lie. Miles 15 – 21 blow chunks. But miles 22 – 26 are everything. Tune in later this week for some actual, legitimate recapping! Don’t forget, you can follow FRoA on Twitter @fairestrunofall and on Instagram @fairestrunofall. If you have any questions or thoughts, leave a comment...

In Which Jenn Is Headed To The WDW Marathon

On this day last year I was headed to WDW for the Dopey Challenge. I can’t say my heart isn’t breaking over the fact that I am not doing the same this year, but it helps to know that the horizon isn’t entirely barren: I am doing the marathon on its own! As I mentioned before, this thirtieth-birthday-present-to-myself is being performed on the super-cheap – fly in Saturday morning, fly out Sunday night, no parks. That does put a minor damper on things from one angle, but from another it gives me an unprecedented opportunity to explore the new...

The Fairest Week In Review: 1/06

JENN: Happy new year! How’s it going so far? MOON: It’s okay. How’s yours? JENN: I’ve got a bit of the post-holiday blues – oh to be young and have a week off work again! – but it’s good. My Achilles is FINALLY starting to feel better! I’ve even gone for a couple runs since my break, and they were pretty good. Then again, they were also pretty short, so… y’know. I only have a marathon on Sunday. Whatevs. MOON: At least “post-holiday blues” suggests you’re holidays weren’t blue. Annnnd you’ll be energized for Sunday = no more blues, you’ll be in your favorite...
