Garlic bread

In Which Jenn Makes The Cheater’s Garlic Bread

This is so freakin’ easy it’s barely even a recipe. And also, I know it’s not REALLY garlic bread. But it takes, like, 90 seconds to make (which is mostly toaster time) and it can be ready practically whenever you want it with any bread you happen to have on hand. The one thing I must insist on, though, is butter. I mean, if you’re vegan or you have an allergy or lactose intolerance or whatever, ignore me, but if you’re just afraid of butter, STOP IT. Julia Child wants you to know that you need some fat in...

Kill/Refurb/Marry: Epcot Food & Wine Festival Booths

This month’s Kill/Refurb/Marry is HARD, guys. It’s so hard I almost just skipped it. But apparently participating in this particular blog hop is like Mickey popcorn – once you start, you can’t NOT keep eating going. Armed with my festival to-eat list, I set out, an intrepid explorer extraordinaire, and determined: Who would I kill/refurb/marry among the Epcot Food & Wine Festival Booths? JENN: Did you run at all this week? MOON: Ouiii. I’m actually a bit burned out JENN: Awww. How are you burned out? MOON: I’ve decided that I need to add strength training in again. The lower half of my body is pretty set, but I can’t tell you what a difference there is between my legs and my arms. JENN:Yeah, I was doing some upper body work for awhile there and just kinda wandered away from...

Jenn’s Long Run Part II: The Actual Running Part

In the immortal words of Dory: We did it! We did it! Oh yeah yeah yeah! (In this particular case, “we” refers to me and my beautiful unicorn sneakers.) My long run was a SUCCESS, guys! An actual, honest to God success! Who would’ve thought? I certainly didn’t think.* My seven miler on Tuesday morning sucked, although I suspect this was a product of both high humidity and the fact that it was MORNING, ugh. Unlike your vast majority of normal runners, I perform much better at night – and on a treadmill. What a weirdo! Yeah, that’s right...

Jenn’s Long Run Part I: Preparation

Tonight’s training run: 20 miles. TWENTY. MILES. Okay. I have the option of doing eighteen if it’s just not clicking for me. But I really want that twenty. If I can do it in four hours, I’ll be happy. Then I’ll have my longest run under my belt and I can being tapering for the Marine Corps Marathon. I’ll admit: I’m a little nervous. I’ve done twenty miles twice in the past but that was about a year ago and for some reason rather than improve I have actually gotten SLOWER over the past months. Sigh. But where there’s...
