‘Tis The Season To runDisney

2024 WDW Marathon - finish

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Time for the flagship runDisney event: Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend.

THAT’S WHAT TIGGERS JENNS LIKE BEST!

Every single runDisney race weekend is a great time. I invariably create great memories at all of them. But the granddaddy of my mental health, my purest, most reliable source of my will to live, is the Walt Disney World Marathon.

I mean, YES, WDW Marathon Weekend generally. But the marathon is my FAVORITE runDisney race. I feel like it offers the most value per mile. It’s 26.2 (42K if you’re an international citizen of culture) of runDisney joy. Bonus: by the time you hit the halfway mark, the course is nicely thinned out. You’ll be hopping in and out of character stops with little to no line all the way to the finish!

THE runDISNEY GODS HALF-SMILED ON ME

I adore doing the Dopey Challenge, but I simply don’t have the money to do it every year. I prefer to scale back a bit with Goofy. Alas, I didn’t make it out of the registration queue fast enough for a Goofy Challenge bib in 2026.

Luckily I was able to score individual half and full marathon bibs, which is basically the same thing. No challenge shirt or medal, but honestly, I’m not bothered by that. Extras are nice, but it’s the races itself that make the magic. I’m grateful to be running two amazing races!

WHO AM I THIS TIME?

Perhaps you are wondering: okay, but what are your race costumes going to be?! Sometimes I say you’ll have to follow me on Instagram to find out, but not lately. Lately I’ve been giving up the whole game on YouTube.

Yes, really! For the last year or so I’ve been very lightly dabbling in YouTube videos. Most of my entries are shorts, but I’ve put together some longer form content as well. If you’d like to know everything about my half and full costumes AND gawp at some extremely mediocre art by yours truly, you have only to click play below!

WE’RE runDISNEY BESTIES, RIGHT?

This next bit is purely optional!

Incidentally, if you’d like to do me a huge favor, I would be thrilled to death if you would subscribe to the aforementioned Fairest Run Of All YouTube channel. I’m planning to put out more content, for starters! I just posted a video version of my Disney Deinfluencing race expo blog post and it seems to have gained some (comparative and modest) traction, so I think I might be able to find a niche there. Maybe?

Also, to be 100% straight with you, I need 500 subscribers to monetize my channel and I think this would be an unobtrusive way to help fund all my blog expenses. I never want to have to constantly sell you stuff or add a bunch of annoying advertisements to the blog! But I must admit the domain, web hosting, security, etc. adds up. In case you ever wondered if I was making money off FROA, the answer is definitely no. 😅

Anyway, the TL;DR here is if you wouldn’t mind subscribing, I would be very appreciative. I’m just hoping to recoup some losses for my little passion project, not become an influencer, swear! If you have a channel you would like me to likewise subscribe to, please let me know. And if you’d rather not, that’s totally understandable!

OKAY, TEAM, LET’S GO runDISNEY

To paraphrase your hero and mine, Chief Flight Attendant Patrick: okay, let’s review. It’s the most wonderful time of the year, I love the WDW Marathon, I’m doing Fake Goofy, check out my costumes on YouTube and subscribe to my channel… anything else? Oh yeah! Wear a mask at the expo if you’re sick. But also! Have a great race weekend.

This trip report begins with a flight
