In Which Jenn Is Registered For The 2020 Walt Disney World Marathon, Obviously

Today in surprising turns of events: yesterday I registered for the 2020 Walt Disney World Marathon. I KNOW! Shocking! I’ve only done it the last 5 years in a row while periodically gushing about how it’s my favorite thing to happen all year. It feels especially important to me right now as I am on a temporary runDisney hiatus given our move to Puerto Rico. Indeed, preliminary research seems to suggest I don’t have a ton of races to choose from here at all. I hope to get right back in the thick of things next year, but for...

In Which Jenn Doesn’t Like One Part Of The WDW Marathon

Time was when my least favorite part of the Walt Disney World Marathon was the Wide World of Sports. It’s roundabouts miles 17 – 21, so, already you’re tired. Although a “park” of sorts, it’s no proper theme park. And as you enter the area, you run up against the people exiting the area, and you know they’re like four miles ahead of you. Screw those guys! Not you, Minnie. You’re cool.   But as I age, so do I soften. No, just kidding. I haven’t softened, I’ve just shifted my hatred. Wide World of Sports is now pretty okay in my book. It’s still...

Oh, post-marathon week off from running, I hardly new ye. I wanted to go for a walk but was busy at work and didn’t have time.  Wednesday | rest But I did have...

The Fairest Trip Report Of All: The WDW Marathon

Continuing my trip report for my January 2019 WDW trip. See all the posts in this report here. Onward! The last two years have seen unseasonably chilly temperatures for Florida during the Walt Disney World Marathon. This year, I bolted upright in bed at 2:35am in the morning as always, but to a very different world. It was already 60 degrees; indeed, I dressed in my Figment best for the race and then topped it off with a single thin long-sleeve shirt as a throwaway. Fancy that – a WDW Marathon where I wasn’t freezing to death. Under the...

The Fairest Week In Review: 1/16

Once again, it’s all behind me. I can’t believe I have to wait another year to run the Walt Disney World Marathon. A year! A WHOLE YEAR! How am I supposed to enjoy life when I know that I could be enjoying it much more if only I were limping through the ESPN Wide World Of Sports?! On a more serious note, I touched on this a bit via Twitter, but I wanted to extend my heartfelt thanks to the TSA and air traffic controllers for working for no pay during the furlough. My little heart longs for the WDW Marathon,...

The Fairest Week In Review: 12/12

It’s beginning to look a lot like… WDW MARATHON TRAINING PEAK TIME!!! Yup, my pre-WDW Marathon 15-miler approacheth, and I am READY. For starters, it helps that it’s only 15 miles. Should I do a longer run? Probably. But it feels like I just finished the Marine Corps Marathon and Two Course Challenge and I don’t care to push myself. Besides, I’ve done a mere 15 miles before this race before. It’s not like I’m running it for time. I’m running it for maximum FUN! MAXIMUM FUN!!! Other training notes ahead: Sunday | ran 10.24 miles outside in 1:45 Monday | walked 2.28 miles...

The Fairest Week In Review: 8/22

I had a friggin’ BONKERS dream last night that I was running the WDW Marathon but somehow took a five hour nap in the middle? I managed to catch up with the stragglers but my final time was over ten hours because, well, five hour nap. Which I evidently took in the Hollywood Tower of Terror, which had a few legit hotel rooms available. Kevin from Brooklyn 99 was the proprietor, obviously. Thanks, man. I forgive you for ruining my marathon. So that’s where my head’s at. Meanwhile, in the real world (UGH) here’s the workout log: Sunday | ran 10.06...

In Which Jenn’s Marathon Photos Will Blow You Away

Mini trip report! Read all the posts in this report here. Did I say I was finished with my WDW Marathon trip report? Just kidding! See, I let my Annual Pass lapse because I knew I wouldn’t be taking enough trips in the allotted time frame. No doubt I’ll get another – after all, I think we can all agree I have an addiction and I can only be strong for so long. But in the meantime I’m tragically devoid of parks… and perks: restaurant discount, merchandise discounts, and of course, free photo downloads. Therefore I thought I was out...

The Fairest Trip Report Of All: The 2018 WDW Marathon

Mini trip report! Read all the posts in this report here. In the immortal words of Salieri: And then, a miracle! I love the WDW Marathon. Just thinking about it fills me with joy. But in the middle of the race I thought it might be my worst one yet… and then it ended up being my best marathon ever. Let’s talk about it! (Because you know I’m dying to.)  I woke up at the crack of 2:45am courtesy of the hotel wakeup call (which was Mickey again; I kinda missed Baymax). I dressed quickly and was out the door before...
