In Which Jenn Considers Disney Movies Across Generations

My ballet teacher recently purchased a CD of piano arrangements of Disney songs that we sometimes use for class. It’s such a new recording that it includes a rendition of Frozen‘s “Let It Go.” My teacher tells me that whenever she plays this in her kindergarten-age pre-ballet class, they ALL immediately begin singing the lyrics and complain when she turns it off even though they’re done with the steps. So: I think it is safe to say that Frozen is the seminal Disney movie for current little kids. You know what I mean, right? Sure, you watched lots of...

Squirtgun To Your Head: Least Favorite Disney Character?

JENN: It’s time for another Squirtgun To Your Head! As we put the figurative gun to the head of a character we don’t like. Yes, the question today is this: Who is your LEAST favorite Disney character? I know mine: Boo from Monsters Inc. SHUT YOUR MOUTH AND GET OUT OF MY FACE I CANNOT STAND BOO. Whatever you watched most often in your single-digit years. MOON: Mary Poppins. WELL Most often? Maybe Bedknobs and Broomsticks. WELL JENN: Oh my… MOON: Okay, going with Mary Poppins. I wanted to be Burt when I was a kid; he always seemed to have interesting jobs. This is also Ruffian’s favorite. In fact, I’m not sure why I don’t have his instrumental outfit. I’m not sure why I don’t...

Escape from Tomorrow

In Which Jenn Has Thoughts On Escape from Tomorrow

So, Escape from Tomorrow – that much-hyped and agonized-over piece of indie film, making Walt Disney World into a horror show. Has anyone else seen it? I know I’m way late to the party, but I finally did! And here, in a nutshell, is what I thought: kinda boring, made no sense. Okay, that’s a little glib. To clarify, I want to point out that I am not giving it a poor review because of any perceived anti-Disney sentiment. For all the fuss about it being a horror movie filmed without permission, I don’t think Walt Disney World was...
