Harmonious album art

Wait, There’s An Extended Harmonious Soundtrack?!

Last week, you may have noticed me waxing lyrical about the Harmonious soundtrack in my Tessitura 5K recap. You know Harmonious, yes? Epcot fireworks. Yeah. Doubtless you thought nothing of my using fireworks music to run; that’s practically de rigueur in the runDisney community. But what if I told you… there’s an extended version of the soundtrack? It was YouTube that drove me to find this treasure. Normally I listen to a lot of my Disney attraction soundtracks, background music, etc. off YouTube. But my God, guys, the advertisements on that platform have gotten SO AGGRESSIVE. I don’t mind...

Runner's World is surprised by classical music

Try My Classical Music Running Playlist

The last Runner’s World issue was dedicated to music. Among the many articles on its (tremendous!) importance was a small feature detailing what music the magazine’s subscribers tend to jam to most often on their runs. The editors expressed their surprise by how often Beethoven was cited as a driving force. Me? Not even! People talk about growing up in a Beatles or a Stones family. I grew up in a Classical Music Only family. If my mom was in the car, we listened to classical music. With my dad we occasionally listened to some classic rock, but he...

Happy Friday: When They Saw The Candlelight Processional They Rejoiced With Great Joy

Merry Christmas Eve, my friends! I don’t know about you, but I feel like this is just about exactly the right time to watch the Candlelight Processional. I’m guessing you’re not in Epcot right now and jonesing to wait in a 4-hour line, so YouTube is fine. I myself have seen the show live twice now and find the whole thing just as lovely as the next person, but there’s one particular segment that stands out as a favorite. I rather think it might be your favorite too. It certainly seems to be a hit with Neil Patrick Harris,...

"Sister Suffragette"

Well Done, Sister Suffragette!

It has recently come to my attention that that seminal piece of Disney musical history, the brilliant “Sister Suffragette” brought so beautifully to life by Glynis Johns as Mrs. Banks, is omitted from the Broadway version of Mary Poppins. This is a TRAVESTY and I will tell you why. But first, should we just watch it real quick? Let’s just watch it real quick. Magnificent, no? The Sherman Brothers were so good at writing, ahem, timeless lyrics. Okay, okay, politics aside, the lyrics are clever, the tune is catchy, and Glynis Johns KILLS IT. KILLS IT!!! The wild gesturing!...

In Which You Can Hear ALL The Disney Parks Music In Single Videos

My love of Walt Disney World background music loops is well documented. There’s just something so soothing about listening to the sounds of the Disney parks while doing work or chores; it floats the mind away to a better, more carefree place. I have lots of favorites, but I’m also always on the hunt for new treasures. I was poking around YouTube for just this reason when I came upon a video from Epcat77 that claimed to be the ENTIRE master music loop for Disney’s Animal Kingdom – yes, the whole entire park. Eager to explore every possible musical nook...

In Which Jenn Shares Her Long Run Disney Parks Playlist

Pray for me now and in the hour of my 17 mile training run. I will appreciate those prayers when the time comes (tomorrow), but as they say: the Lord helps those who help themselves. In addition to prayers, I shall try to make my long run as painless minimally painful as possible with the help of such items as KT Tape, mocha Clif Shots, a spare water bottle, and, of course, music. (Amazon links are affiliate!) I will start out with my usuals from Amazon Music (Aerosmith!) or my own personal iTunes stash (J. Roddy/Floggy Molly/Jukebox the Ghost),...

In Which Jenn Has A Disney Sing Along En Español

Let’s get down to business – or, as they say in Spanish, hombres de acción: This means “men of action,” and that’s my segue into today’s topic, which is: my New Year’s resolutions. Duh. Much like deciding what to give up for Lent, I like to make my New Year’s resolutions very doable. For this year, my primary resolution is to watch a maximum amount of Disney movies in Spanish. Disney+ offers language tracks and subtitles for pretty much all their animated movies in both European AND Latino Spanish, and since I already know the context of the dialogue in...

Disney Christmas

In Which Jenn Has A Christmas Jingle In The Jungle

Every Christmas I embark upon a mission: to dig up the most uniquely Christmas background music that I can, the kind that’s themed in such a way that it feels like Disney in a manner regular carols can’t evoke. While it’s tempting to just repost the Animal Kingdom Lodge holiday background loop every year and call it a day, I have two new loops for you this year, and both in the same vein! I enlisted the help of Twitter in my quest, and one of the suggestions that came back was Trader Sam’s loop. I searched for it on YouTube and...

In Which Jenn Has A New WDW Background Music Obsession

GUYS. With Thanksgiving is behind us, no one can disagree with me that it’s officially Christmas time. Which means that I can now tell you, with no fear of repercussions whatsoever, about my newest WDW background music obsession. Okay. We know Christmas at WDW is, like everything that happens there, pretty magical. The special holiday background loops are part of what makes the ambiance so festive. I definitely listen to loops from the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and more. But the thing about those loops is that they’re all a little… dare I say it… generic. They’re collections of holiday...
