Happy Friday: When They Saw The Candlelight Processional They Rejoiced With Great Joy

Merry Christmas Eve, my friends! I don’t know about you, but I feel like this is just about exactly the right time to watch the Candlelight Processional. I’m guessing you’re not in Epcot right now and jonesing to wait in a 4-hour line, so YouTube is fine. I myself have seen the show live twice now and find the whole thing just as lovely as the next person, but there’s one particular segment that stands out as a favorite. I rather think it might be your favorite too. It certainly seems to be a hit with Neil Patrick Harris,...

20 Thoughts I Had While Watching Decorating Disney: Holiday Magic

After another one of my endless trip reports pushed it aside, my Thoughts While Watching series is back and ready to tackle its December entry! We’re going v. thematically appropriate with Decorating Disney: Holiday Magic, which you can find on Disney+ here. Don’t worry, next time around we’ll go vintage again, but I couldn’t resist the easy Christmas cheer. Fire it up and let’s get to thinking, shall we? 20 Thoughts I had While Watching Decorating Disney: Holiday Magic 1. I know Whoopi Goldberg when I hear her! 2. Wait, is the Grand Floridian Gingerbread house styrofoam or something...

Happy Friday: What Does It Matter? The Christmas Parade’s In The Past!

I just read that since Disneyland has been closed all this time, there will be no Disneyland portion of the Christmas parade during this year’s Disney holiday special. I’d imagine that’s not the only change we’ll see, but at least Tituss Burgess will be there to gently shepherd us through. But this announcement did remind me of yet another song from the seminal sing-along video of my childhood, Disney’s Twelve Days of Christmas: “Here Comes Santa” featuring the Walt Disney World Christmas parade. The nostalgia kinda fills the hole in my heart, y’know? Alas, I could only find one...

In Which Jenn Has A Christmas Jingle In The Jungle

Every Christmas I embark upon a mission: to dig up the most uniquely Christmas background music that I can, the kind that’s themed in such a way that it feels like Disney in a manner regular carols can’t evoke. While it’s tempting to just repost the Animal Kingdom Lodge holiday background loop every year and call it a day, I have two new loops for you this year, and both in the same vein! I enlisted the help of Twitter in my quest, and one of the suggestions that came back was Trader Sam’s loop. I searched for it on YouTube and...

Happy Friday: Goofy’s Supplication Methods Are Questionable

This is not my first time expressing both my undying love for an tremendous confusion regarding the Disney Singalong Songs video The Twelve Days of Christmas, a staple of my childhood and possibly the reason my imagination is so… um… boundless. But today I would like to discuss a bit of a sleeper from the tape which has been inexplicably stuck in my head the last couple days. Can I interest you in a trippy dancing fade-in Goofy asking Santa to bring him an elephant as a present? I THOUGHT SO. Like, who art directed this thing? Did they...

In Which Jenn Shares Another Favorite WDW Christmas Music Loop

Ah, the official start of the Christmas season! Last year I marked the occasion with a brief love letter to my favorite WDW Christmas music loop, and this year I am excited to carry on that tradition! Funny thing is, I may seem to contradict myself here – when I declared my (strong, continuing!) love for the Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Christmas music loop in 2018, I provided as part of my reasoning its uniqueness. In the process I noted that a lot of holiday loops can sound a little generic, being familiar renditions of carols and all that....

The Fairest Week In Review: 12/20

Good morning! We are deep in December!! It is peak Christmastime!!!!! I have: – decorated the tree – wrapped the presents – yelled at the cat for nosing around in the presents – baked cookies (okay, that’s a lie; Pat baked them and I provided moral support) – replaced lunch with cookies – watched Christmas movies – demanded Pat wear my Santa Mickey hat … so it’s going well over here. I’m a big Christmas fan so naturally I am increasingly excited. And then after Christmas is my birthday, a day where ONLY I am excited so I have...

In Which Jenn Has A New WDW Background Music Obsession

GUYS. With Thanksgiving is behind us, no one can disagree with me that it’s officially Christmas time. Which means that I can now tell you, with no fear of repercussions whatsoever, about my newest WDW background music obsession. Okay. We know Christmas at WDW is, like everything that happens there, pretty magical. The special holiday background loops are part of what makes the ambiance so festive. I definitely listen to loops from the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and more. But the thing about those loops is that they’re all a little… dare I say it… generic. They’re collections of holiday...
