The Fairest Trip Report Of All: 1/09

And now for my favorite kind of post – the trip report! I‘ll be covering my 2020 Marathon trip. Onward! I was coming from my parents’ house in NC this year, and my dad very graciously drove me to the airport. Guys, the Wilmington airport is SO TINY. There are literally only three airlines there and you can stand in the center of the terminal and see EVERY SINGLE GATE. Like, in the ENTIRE airport. It’s bonkers. I did experience one small adventure even in this scaled-down setting – my crotch set off the TSA scanner. >D The TSA...

The Fairest Trip Report Of All: Kidani Village & The Race Expo

I’m gonna split this trip report up a little differently than usual – rather than go strictly one day at a time, I’m going to separate out the posts by inpidual activity. That being said, day 1 was very chill, so I’ll be pretty comprehensive with this first foray. Onward with the trip report! This tale of Walt Disney World begins as they always do: with a trip to the airport at an ungodly hour. Despite not planning to check a bag, I left extra early in case the government shutdown was causing a bad backup at airport security....

The Fairest Trip Report Of All: 1/06

I debated writing this trip report at all. Aside from the marathon itself, I had an incredibly low key trip. No parks or anything. But I decided to do so anyway because a) I have a couple notes that was be interesting to people and b) someday I will reread this report and sigh happily about the good all days. So: off we go! I slept unusually well the night before leaving for this trip, which is to say, I did sleep. It was miraculous! But no one ever enjoys a 4:20am alarm, that much is for sure. The trip...

The Fairest Trip Report Of All: 1/07

It’s trip report time again! I love trip reports! I’m recapping my January 2017 trip to WDW for the marathon. Onward! My morning began with my dad waking me up five minutes before my alarm was even set to go off, but I can’t really complain seeing as how he was giving me a ride to the airport. (Always encourage your parents to live near the airport.) Airport portion of the story was surprisingly uneventful, given the weather patterns circling around at the time. We boarded a little late as we were waiting on the requisite number of flight...

The Fairest Week In Review: 1/11

If I were asked to pick a single word to describe the WDW Marathon, I would go with this: AGAIN! AGAIN! AGAIN! All of which is to say that I had a great weekend, weather notwithstanding, and can’t wait to get started on my trip report and race recap! Before we get there, some housekeeping in the form of last week’s workouts: Sunday | restMonday | ran 7.15 miles on the treadmill in 1:15Tuesday | 70 minute ballet classWednesday | ran 5.26 miles on the treadmill in 60 minutes; walked 3.22 miles outside in 55 minutesNormally I prefer to walk...

The Fairest Trip Report Of All: 1/09

And now for the Briefest Trip Report Of All! I began my whirlwind marathon weekend with a 7am flight. The airport was uncharacteristically empty, and since I didn’t need to check any bags I waltzed through security and had a Jamba Juice smoothie in hand in short order. My flight took off early, but landed half an hour late due to a brand new experience for me: two go-arounds. Conditions in the Orlando morning were foggy and it wasn’t until attempt #3 that we managed to land. (I assume instrument landings are for special occasions only.) I wasn’t particularly...

The Fairest Trip Report Of All: 1/07/15

Is it trip report time again already? Yay! I’ll be looking back at my Dopey trip at the beginning of January, with special separate posts for each race and some food experiences depending on how much I have to say about them. Ready? Let’s go!In the interest of not getting up so early, my boyfriend (hereinafter referred to as Pat on account of because that’s his name) and I drove to his parents’ house the night before, so we didn’t have to get up until just before 6AM, with Pat’s dad dropping us off at the airport around 6:45AM...
