The Fairest Trip Report Of All: 4/1

Okay, one more Walt Disney World trip report and then I promise not another one until November, okay? (Probably. Like, if something falls in my lap…) Read all the posts in this report here. We begin this tale with a crazy airplane adventure! The kind that’s on the ground, that is; no lives were lost on this journey. I was coming from North Carolina after visiting my parents partially for race purposes. We drove to MYR and I hopped on my flight to Baltimore, all without a hitch. Things looked good at BWI. My airplane to MCO arrived a...

You’re Going To Walt Disney World Again, AGAIN?

Two Walt Disney World trips in as many months?! No one can live at that speed! I know! And yet, here we are. I mean, can one run too many runDisney races in a year? I think not! Corollary remark: does all my fun money go directly to runDisney races? I think so! No matter; this may well be my last chance to run the Tower of Terror 10 Miler, and I’m glad I’m taking it. So that’s goal 1: have an absolutely smashing race. And I have other big goals too, of course. Here are some of my...

North Myrtle Beach Sunglasses Half Marathon Recap!

Oh, how sad to be right. But in the ashes of defeat are the seeds of victory, so here’s my 2022 – inaugural! – North Myrtle Beach Sunglasses Half Marathon race recap all the same. We begin with a 4:45am wakeup call (still luxuriously late compared to runDisney) and the 55-minute trek from Wilmington down to North Myrtle Beach. I built in plenty of time to start late, get lost, or get stuck in 5K traffic, but everything went smoothly and we arrived around 6:15am, well in advance of the half marathon 7:45am start time. Incidentally, when I say...

My 2022 Epcot Flower & Garden Festival To-Eat List

Okay, it all worked out last time, so I think I can safely share my To-Eat list for this year’s Epcot Flower & Garden Festival. Oh, yeah, didn’t you hear? I’m going back to WDW again for the Tower of Terror 10 Miler! 2022 is the year for big fun and big spending, I guess. But we’re not here to squint suspiciously at my bank records. We’re here to talk about food! Specifically, the samplings that will be on offer in the Flower & Garden Festival food booths. I am nothing if not a wildly anxious organized individual, and...

Bringing My Race To Its Knees

After my (kinda, sorta, really yes but also no) triumph at the Run Oak Island Half Marathon, I vowed that I would make my next half my sub-2. I’ve got one coming up in a week or so. It was gonna be my race. Now? I’m not so sure. Okay, to be fair, I was never really sure. I can’t be the only one who’s gone into a race expecting one outcome and experiencing another. In both directions, even – sometimes you pounce and sometimes you get trounced, you know? Mind you, trouncing seems to happen to me more...

Disney Wardrobe

It’s A WDW Wardrobe Battle Royale!

I just finished my last WDW trip report, so of course it’s time to go back to Walt Disney World. I KNOW, RIGHT?! I’ve never been to Disney this much in this short a time! And I may never again, so I better enjoy it. One of the ways I enjoy it is by dressing up. Thus it is time once again for my planned trip wardrobe. But this time, there’s a TWIST! What kind of twist, you ask? Read on! (Don’t mind the knee scabs; I had another running tumble. We’ll talk about it next post. Whee!) We...

The Fairest Trip Report Of All: Food Review Hodgepodge

It’s trip report time again! Read all the posts in this trip report here. Onward! One does not simply eat food at Walt Disney World and then fail to talk about it. Inquiring minds want to know: what did you eat at WDW, and was it worth it? I would never hold out on you! Here’s all the comestibles and libations worth mentioning from my February Disney trip: DISNEY SPRINGS SNACKS We return to Blaze pizza for the first time in awhile, so chosen for its efficient line and carb-heavy pre-race offerings. I was pleased to see they offer...

The Fairest Trip Report Of All: 2/28

It’s trip report time again! Read all the posts in this trip report here. Onward! Erika had to catch a morning flight and left around 4am; I have a vague recollection of waving goodbye, but aside from that, I was essentially flying solo for the day. I popped out of bed a couple hours later, prepped for the day, threw the rest of my stuff together, and said the sad goodbye to my room. I left my bags will the checkout-specific bell services and joined what turned out to be a very long Skyliner queue. The Cast Members were...

The Fairest Trip Report Of All: 2/27

It’s trip report time again! Read all the posts in this trip report here. Onward! The end of any runDisney race is a whirl of mixed emotions – you’re happy and sad that it’s over all at once. But there is something so calm and lovely about coming back to your room right after, especially the bit where you take a long hot shower. (Maybe you take a cold one like you’re “supposed” to but I’m not about that Arctic life.) I nestled, clean and satisfyingly tired, into bed and awaited the arrival of Erika. She was back shortly...

The Fairest Trip Report Of All: 2022 Princess Half Marathon Recap

It’s trip report time again! Read all the posts in this trip report here. Onward! First thing first: I woke up on time for the Princess Half Marathon. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it forever: this is by far the scariest part of any race. Once you’re awake, you’re home free, baby! Despite the adrenaline shot to the heart that is the shrill voice of the WDW wakeup call, I woke up feeling reasonably rested and alert considering it was 2am. I bopped through race prep, Erika did the same, and we headed out into the cold...
