In Which Jenn Gets An Awesome Deal On Running Shoes

Hi, my name is Jenn, and I just got myself a brand new pair of Brooks Ravenna 6 running shoes, normally $110, for $56. I KNOW! I was psyched too! Pretty! But not the all time prettiest. How did I accomplish such an amazing feat? Well, Brooks recently came out with their Ravenna 7, so they’re unloading all their old 6 inventory. I definitely want to try the 7s eventually, but the 6s work fine and older shoe models go for much cheaper. For example, Brooks was selling its Ravenna 6s for $70. A good deal to be sure....

The Fairest Giveaway (& Review) Of All: SLS3 Dual Pocket Running Belt

Settle in, folks – it’s time for giveaway #2. BUT FIRST: a review of the product you could win! I was contacted about a month ago by SLS3 with an offer to try out their Dual Pocket Running Belt, categorized as for women and billed as waterproof. I’ve always been intrigued by the idea of a running belt, but I was always leery of the potential fit issues (more on this in a bit). But here was an opportunity to try one out for free – why not take the shot? A couple weeks later I had it in...

In Which Jenn Says Goodbye To Her Running Shoes

Farewell and adieu to my fair Brooks Ravennas Farewell and adieu to my Ravenna 5s For the 6 has replaced you and they’re purging your inventory And never n’more shall we see you again </end weird Jaws reference that doesn’t even rhyme> I have been hit by another runner rite of passage: my preferred sneaker is being phased out. I’ve been using Brooks Ravennas since October of 2013, and five pairs later they’re still my go-to shoe. Since I started using them the instances of knee pain I’ve suffered have reduced to a minimum frequency. Correlation, causation, blah blah blah...

The Fairest Week In Review: 1/07

JENN: Question one on my mind is this: did you get any running/exercise stuff for Christmas? MOON: I did, actually! Did you? JENN: Yes! You first. MOON: So, the only Christmas-proper running present I got was from my roommate’s mother. She gave me a new pair of running shoes! We had been looking through the outlets over the summer for shoes (she saw my Asics and really liked them, so we went searching for a pair for her). It was very sweet of her. I was really shocked. JENN: Awww, that’s so nice! A model that will work for...

In Which Jenn’s Lungs Mutiny

This story begins, as it so often does, with the gym breaking down. It’s kind of my own fault, really. No, not the gym breaking down; just the part where it screws me over. See, I was supposed to run on Sunday, but my Saturday suuuuuuucked and I was feeling tired and down so I skipped it in favor of sleeping. I’m not saying it was the smart thing to do, I’m just saying it happened. So on Monday I traipse down to my apartment complex’s gym, feeling kinda ready to run for a change, and what do I...

In Which Jenn Gets New Sneakers From Fleet Feet

The Annapolis Light House Half Marathon was last Sunday, and was so small that there was no expo, just packet pickup. This would not seem to warrant a special post, but since the pickup was at Fleet Feet I decided to get some LOOOOONG overdue sneakers while I was there. As far as I am concerned, new sneakers are very newsworthy! Because of her mother’s medical issues, Moon decided not to run, but she did want to meet me at Fleet Feet to look at sneakers. This plan suffered a small hiccup when I arrived at the designated address...

The Fairest Week in Review: 9/30

Good morning, sunshines! As you might have guessed from that disgustingly cheery opening, I survived my second half marathon, even as it was outside of the warm Disney embrace. Did I meet my time goal? If you follow us on Twitter you know; if not, you’ll have to wait until later this week to find out! You won’t want to miss it – I get REALLY excited about a bagel. Also on the blog post docket for the week: Moon hops in on a post with me; plus I GOT NEW SNEAKERS!!! Can you tell that I may or...

The Fairest Week in Review: 7/29

JENN: Okay, here’s my first report for the week: the running skirt I bought last week was a bust. I tried it on and it fit really comfortably, which should’ve been the first red flag. Since the undershorts weren’t gripping my thighs with deathly force, they naturally rode up as soon as I started to run. MOON: I figured they would probably ride up too much for running. JENN: It’s not a total loss, since it was only fourteen bucks and it’s always useful to have a skirt with undershorts for picnics and other sitting-down endeavors, but as a...

The Fairest Week in Review: 7/22

JENN: Wanna do our weekly? MOON: Sure! JENN: Then let’s hit it! How’d your training go this week? MOON: Rather well, actually. I jogged indoors, outdoors, got through a minor ankle issue, and tried an intense elliptical workout. JENN: Ankle okay now? MOON: It’s getting there. I honestly don’t know what I did to offend it. How was your week? I know you were in San Francisco and weren’t feeling so well… JENN: I had a pretty off week. I got my mileage in, but I never really found a groove. I was tired every time. I’m kinda bummed...
