The Fairest Trip Report Of All: Lunch At The Brown Derby Lounge

The trip report proper is over, but we’re not done yet – I’ve still got lots of thoughts, including food reviews and photos! You can see all the posts in this report here. Onward! My final restaurant review for this trip report was probably my favorite of the trip, edging out even our meal of California Grill for sheer enjoyment. We were first in line for the Brown Derby Lounge! The timing worked out so that we rope-dropped the restaurant, filing in with a small handful of people at noon and selecting our own seat toward the back by the railing....

The Fairest Trip Report Of All: 4/24

It’s trip report time again! I love trip reports! I’m recapping my April 2017 trip to WDW for the Dark Side Half. You can see all the posts in this report here. Onward! The last full day. The last day of true safety. After my sleep-deprived-and-zombified antics of the night prior, I woke feeling incredibly refreshed. I all but hopped out of bed with my alarm. I showered and dressed with a light heart before waking a considerably crankier Pat, because he’s always cranky when you first wake him up. He later pointed out that, this being the case, I should...

The Fairest Trip Report Of All: 4/22

It’s trip report time again! I love trip reports! I’m recapping my April 2017 trip to WDW for the Dark Side Half. You can see all the posts in this report here. Onward! I was jolted from my slumber by my 7am alarm, because WDW is the only place where I will get up early without grumbling. No such thing can be said for Pat, who slept through my shower et al and had to be dragged out of bed. The whole time I was hustling him, he made fun of me for being so sure we needed to beat the...

In Which Jenn Wants You To Share Your Tower of Terror Screams With Others

Unlike your larger majority of Disney parks enthusiasts, I don’t have a ton of family memories from Walt Disney World. My parents took me twice, once when I was so young I hardly remember it (beyond my love of Figment and fear of Snow White’s witch), and the other when I was twelve. I do remember some stuff from the latter trip, but it all felt kind of perfunctory. I think my parents like Disney parks just fine but were largely checking a box on the Traditional Family Activities list. No slight intended on their part – I mean, as...

In Which Jenn Mourns The Osborne Lights

I know – everyone’s doing it. But how can you not? Last November, I did not set foot in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Not once. Why bother? Rock ‘n Roller Coaster was done, I had no companion goading me into Tower of Terror, and the Great Movie Ride and Star Tours, while fun, are hardly enough to lure me alone. I would’ve made the time if the Osborne Lights were still around. I have so many wonderful memories of sharing a drink with Katherine while we danced among the lights. Of running through the Streets of America during the Wine...

In Which Jenn Self-Soothes With WDW Background Music

I mentioned a few weeks ago that I’ve been in the throes of particularly strong WDW homesickness of late. I said it then and I’ll say it now: one of the best ways to cope with this terrible, terrible feeling is in the plundering of YouTube for area background music, perfect for comforting you as you cry your way through a non-Disney work day. I know a lot of people turn to radio stations and such, but I like YouTube for its ability to find me the exact music I need, plus sometimes there are some lovely accompanying videos....

The Fairest Week In Review: 4/15

No Moon again this week, guys. 🙁 She’s busily packing for Boston. 🙁 🙁 In the meantime, I don’t have a whole lot to report on the running front. Everything’s been fine. I’ve been experimenting the with the Nikes again, although I think for longer distances I’d better stick with the Brooks Ravennas – I just can’t risk the injuries even if it means there’s a bit too much support happening for my left foot. Does anything else have one rogue foot that needs support while the other doesn’t? Maybe we should start looking into mix-and-match pairs… I do...

The Fairest Trip Report Of All: Brown Derby Lounge Review

Last post of the trip report. 🙁 Commentary from Elizabeth provided in red. Click here to read all the posts in this report. Onward! Brown Derby Lounge, I hope you don’t mind me telling you this, but: you were an accident. Elizabeth and I were hot and tired that afternoon in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. We were just looking for a bar that wasn’t crowded. You – the little outdoor bar space attached to the Hollywood Brown Derby – had a line, but by that point we had given up. Turns out the line was just for the bar itself to grab a to-go...

The Fairest Trip Report Of All: 11/08

It’s time for another trip report! Yay! I LOVE trip reports! This time around we’re covering the 2015 Wine & Dine Half Quarter Marathon trip. I’ll be including reviews of my Food & Wine Festival purchases within the trip report itself, but restaurant reviews will be in their own separate posts. Commentary from Elizabeth provided in red. Click here to read all the posts in this report. Onward! After our late night night, the plan for the morning after the after party was to sleep in. That plan was almost interrupted by housekeeping at 8:45am; I literally rolled out of bed, snuck the “do...

The Fairest Trip Report of All: Fairfax Fare & Studio Catering Co. Reviews

The trip report is over, but I still have a couple of posts left in me! In particular, food reviews. If you want to catch up on my Dopey experience, you can read all the posts in this particular trip report here. Ready? Let’s go! Let’s talk about counter service! More specifically, let’s talk about my least favorite counter service. Most specifically, let’s talk about my least favorite counter service in my least favorite park. Awww, I’m sorry, Hollywood Studios. It’s not that I don’t love you! It’s just that I don’t love you as much as the other parks....
