In Which Jenn Secures All Her Belongings Inside The Ride Vehicle EVERY TIME

(Source) Say what you will about Dinoland USA, but I have an unabashed love of its flagship ride: Dinosaur. Equal parts intense and absurd, scary and silly, it’s a great example of a non-coaster, dark ride/thrill ride hybrid. After many years and many trips to the past, I can now make it all the way through the ride without shutting my eyes once (I said it was kinda scary!). My one remaining fear? That all my stuff is very carefully stowed in the pocket in front of me. Travel back with me to the much less distant past: 2009. I...

The Fairest Trip Report Of All: The Nomad Lounge Review

The trip report proper is over, but we’re not done yet – I’ve still got lots of thoughts, including food reviews and photos! You can see all the posts in this report here. Onward! The Nomad Lounge in Disney’s Animal Kingdom worries me, and here’s why: positioned at the mouth of the new Pandora land, I fear it will soon cease to be a hidden gem, a la the sudden rush on Sanaa. Can nothing remain secret?! Nevertheless, I would never be so oppressive as to demand this wonderful bar hide its proverbial light under a proverbial bushel. But I made...

The Fairest Trip Report Of All: 4/24

It’s trip report time again! I love trip reports! I’m recapping my April 2017 trip to WDW for the Dark Side Half. You can see all the posts in this report here. Onward! The last full day. The last day of true safety. After my sleep-deprived-and-zombified antics of the night prior, I woke feeling incredibly refreshed. I all but hopped out of bed with my alarm. I showered and dressed with a light heart before waking a considerably crankier Pat, because he’s always cranky when you first wake him up. He later pointed out that, this being the case, I should...

The Fairest Trip Report Of All: 4/22

It’s trip report time again! I love trip reports! I’m recapping my April 2017 trip to WDW for the Dark Side Half. You can see all the posts in this report here. Onward! I was jolted from my slumber by my 7am alarm, because WDW is the only place where I will get up early without grumbling. No such thing can be said for Pat, who slept through my shower et al and had to be dragged out of bed. The whole time I was hustling him, he made fun of me for being so sure we needed to beat the...

The Fairest Trip Report Of All: 1/09

It’s trip report time again! I love trip reports! I’m recapping my January 2017 trip to WDW for the marathon. You can see all the posts in this report here. Onward! As Jean Valjean once said: one day more… I started my last WDW day in the usual way: I showered, knocked out some last minute packing, checked my bag, and hopped a bus to the Magic Kingdom. I thought I’d be catching one of the last showings of the train station welcome show, but as it turned out that ship had already sailed, replaced by the new welcome show on...

The Fairest Trip Report Of All: 1/07

It’s trip report time again! I love trip reports! I’m recapping my January 2017 trip to WDW for the marathon. Onward! My morning began with my dad waking me up five minutes before my alarm was even set to go off, but I can’t really complain seeing as how he was giving me a ride to the airport. (Always encourage your parents to live near the airport.) Airport portion of the story was surprisingly uneventful, given the weather patterns circling around at the time. We boarded a little late as we were waiting on the requisite number of flight...

The Fairest Trip Report Of All: Nomad Lounge Review

Trip report time! This is the final recap for my November 2016 trip. You can read all posts in the trip report here. Thanks so much for reading! I have been dying of excitement over the fact that WDW has produced my very own drink since I first glimpsed it on a menu back in June. Naturally it only made sense to hightail it over to the Nomad Lounge to try it during my time at Disney’s Animal Kingdom! The Nomad Lounge is fairly out of the way right now, with an entrance beyond the main Tiffin’s entryway, tucked back by where...

The Fairest Trip Report Of All: 11/06

Trip report time! I’ll be covering my November 2016 trip. You can read all posts in the trip report here. Onward! I was lucky enough to have a bus to Pop waiting for me after the half, and I was back in my room and showered in no time flat. A choice was presented to me: did I want to make the wise choice and take a much-needed nap? Or did I want to head to Animal Kingdom and use my Kilimanjaro Safaris Fastpass? Kilimanjaro Safaris, duh. I changed and bolted for the bus. Which took foreeeeever to show. Tons of...

In Which Jenn Self-Soothes With WDW Background Music

I mentioned a few weeks ago that I’ve been in the throes of particularly strong WDW homesickness of late. I said it then and I’ll say it now: one of the best ways to cope with this terrible, terrible feeling is in the plundering of YouTube for area background music, perfect for comforting you as you cry your way through a non-Disney work day. I know a lot of people turn to radio stations and such, but I like YouTube for its ability to find me the exact music I need, plus sometimes there are some lovely accompanying videos....
